Caleb's Birthday
It has been another year, and it is Caleb's birthday again. I can say with all honesty that it does not get any better. Yes, I move on with my life, but I am caught up now and again, and I sit and wonder what Caleb would have been doing now were he still here. I dreamt of Caleb several days ago. Up to that point I had never dreamed of him. Is that bad? I don't know. But he was young, younger than I remembered him, and he was sleeping. He stirred when I approached, and looked at me. And all he asked was for me to cover him up.

Caleb's Birthday
Today would have been Caleb's 23rd birthday. Myself and my family are trying to move forward, but it is a difficult road. I chose to do this site so that I could show everyone just what kind of person my brother was. It has helped me cope in my own way and so I offer another update to the works herein. I have added some more artwork as that was Caleb's bread and butter. Some sections have yet to be completed, but rest assured they will come in good time.

CALEB DOWD SCHOLARSHIPS
These two scholarships of equal and generous sums are comprised of donations from students, faculty, family and friends.

A peer review process was set up in which advanced painting students were asked to select and write about two classmates who typified Caleb Dowd characteristics.

As I understand it, this idea was put forth in part by Caleb's parents, and seems a very appropriate way to honor this fine and talented young man. It is good to have Caleb's mother Kate and brother Abraham in our guests of honor seats this evening.

Two students received a clear vote preference.

Their fellow students felt they shared the following dominant Dowd characteristics: (1) consistent hard work; (2) creative improvement; and (3) kindness to others. I night add a sense of humor was also mentioned.

Painting and drawing faculty concurred with the student's preferences.

I would like to congratulate the two following recipients and ask them to please come forward to receive their award certificates, awards and letters of acknowledgement.

First and foremost, I would like to let everyone know that Caleb's site has been hit over 160 times. I cannot even begin to tell you how this makes me feel. I sent an email to 60 people and almost triple that amount have looked at the site. That means people are telling their friends about it. It is very gratifying that so many people are interested in my brother's life and work. So, tell everyone. Show this site to anyone you think might like to see it.

You can also send me comments. Feel free to email me at bazookaman@triad.rr.com. I have included comments and letters on the following pages that I have received regarding this site. I thought I should share them with everyone.

Also, some of you may have noticed the site is a bit different. It has taken a while but I thought there should be more color. This site is a celebration of my brother-a place where people can see what he accomplished in his short time on this planet. So, I changed a few things. Nothing major. I just think it's more vibrant. Just like he was.
