These are a collection of excerpts from Caleb's journal. He seemed to have a pretty good handle on things for a 23-year-old. I sometimes wish I could write and form thoughts like he could. Another thing to admire and miss.

“The quotes that I have and will place in this book mean a lot. They say a lot about how I feel and think. These words put down in pencil or ink make me feel better about the world.”
In response to Alice Walker's story, "Beauty: When the Other Dancer's the Self." It's those little things that mean so much. We take these little things for granted, but when they're gone, we cry. I'm glad she realize that you have to live your live to the fullest extent. Appreciate the beauty of a rainstrom, the sweet sound of a child's laughter, or the feeling you get when you fall in love for the first time, because you never know when you might lose it all.

I'm a human being. I should be able to make my own choices no matter how absurd they may be.

I think that in our hearts we all have a place like this. Some place where we can run to and not be afraid anymore. A place which will hold you like a mother's embrace.

Oh, the worst of all tragedies is not to die young, but to live until I am seventy-five and yet not ever truly to have lived.

Fail, fail, and fail again, my good man. As long as you tried your damndest to win; then it won't be a failure anymore; it will be a victory for yourself and for your moral. Don't let anybody ever tell you that you can't do something because one day you will be doing it and you'll be doing it well.

This is a quote that I picked out of a book, which I was reading a few months ago. The book was titled "Quest for the Peaceful Warrier." It was written by Dan Millman, an inspirational writer. Here it is:
“There is no need to search; achievement leads to nowhere. It makes no difference at all, so just be happy now! Love is the only reality of the world, because it is all one, you see, and the only laws are paradox, humor, and change. There is no problem, never was, and never will be. Release your struggle, let go of your mind, throw away your concerns, and relax into the world. No need to resist life; just do your best. Open your eyes and see that you are far more than you imagine. You are the world, you are the universe; you are yourself and everyone else, too! It's all the marvelous play of God. Wake up, regain your humor. Don't worry, just be happy. You are already free!”
It's just something to think about. You never know what might be true. Life could be just that simple and we never even realized it.

I'm a person that believes in a unity of all animals and environments on Earth. Without one the other wouldn't exist.

You will not be living if your life is in the past. Do not let things dwell for too long. Get things done as soon as you can. You never know what's around the next corner.

By living in the past you are denying yourself a chance at a greater and better present. Stop looking in the rearview mirror to see what's lurking behind you, and start looking ahead to what is lying in wait.

I always thought I would keep these friends for a while. I guess life is always changing. For better or for worse? No one knows. It will all be apparent in the end. I guess we all have to grow up and lead our own lives, huh? Don't drag the past on your heels; it will just slow you down.

We always believe that life is so hard and it will never get better. We all have to realize that life is a learning experience that we all must go through in order to get to the next level. One day we'll all step onto the next level together.
